THANKFULNESS
I have a real strong belief in my heart that the power of praise and thankfulness goes a long way. It truly brings the best out of each and every one of us. Regardless of who you are or where you have been, it brings us closer to our source. But, it has to be genuine. "There is an inherent law of the mind," say Charles Fillmore, "that we increase whatever we praise." If you think about it, when we want the best and quickest results when we train a dog, what do we do? We praise them and reward them. When we want children to perform and show enthusiasm, what do we do? We praise and reward them. When superiors want the best performance out of you, what do they do? They praise and reward you. When corporations want their employees at peak performance, what do they do? They hire Jay Perez as a motivational speaker! Just being humorous. They praise and reward them. People respond to praise and reward. It is human nature. And, the person that is doing the praising is also rewarded in a big way as long as it is genuine.
I believe that the way you see persons or things has a tremendous impact in the outcome. If I see a person who is unpleasant and lacking in manners on the street but I chose to greet them with a sincere smile or a pleasant "hello," that experience alone will change both our experiences and outcome. And, it will bring you closer to your source which is pure love. Whether you call it the Holy Spirit, Jesus, energy, universal power, Suzy, or Michael. It really does not matter what you call it. Many who know me, know that I am not a religious person but I am very spiritual. I call my source, universal power.
Here's an example of a personal experience to help explain it. Years ago, I was at Coney Island beach in Brooklyn, New York with my young children. I was distracted checking my phone as I was walking into the entrance of the amusement park section of the beach. At that time I was in top physical condition and a body builder. Needless to say, I was pretty buffed. As I was texting on my phone, I bumped into a male that looked to me to be pretty buffed himself. He had what I believe to be an attitude problem because he apparently saw me walking straight ahead and could have easily stepped aside and avoided our collision but, he did not. I say this because he did not have a phone in hand that may have distracted him. I felt that he was actually looking for a confrontation based on his facial expression, body language and unpleasantries that he expressed. I then completely controlled the situation by first apologizing then praising him in front of my children in how 2 grown men should handle the situation we were in. I remember when I praised him, his facial expression went from very aggressive to shock and surprise in a loving and sincere way. I always wonder what the outcome could have been if I was not an enlightened individual and have chosen a different response. Perhaps I may not be here today writing this article. Perhaps I may have done something that I would have truly regretted and it would have changed both our lives forever. Either way, it drives my point regarding the importance of praising.
Praising also brings an increase in whatever you praise. If it is more money you want, praise whatever you do have even if at this time it is very little. If it is more love, happiness, respect from you children etc... praise whatever you have and the law of increase will go to work and bring you an increase in what you want. But remember it has to be genuine. This practice of gratefulness for what you have opens the flood gates to connecting you to your source which is pure love. This will clear the pathway for whatever it is you want in life. For me, the amazing part of this whole thing, is when I learned that I am in total control of my life. That I have the power to do or be whoever or whatever. And, we all have this same power. It is free. It came with birth. We all came from the same source and we are all going back to the same source regardless of what you call it. I finally understand the meaning of the phrase " the truth will set you free." I leave you with a quote on point by Albert Einstein.
"The Idea that have lighted my way have been kindness, beauty, and the Truth."
