SERVICE
Ultimately isn't service why we are all here. Service means being unselfish. It means doing something for someone without any expectations of anything in return. It is also an expression of love. Our parents served us. And, because they served us and loved us unconditionally, we are who we are today. We all serve one way or another. The majority of individuals that serve do not get acknowledged. Individuals in public service, or the military may get acknowledgment because of the nature of their service but, there are countless examples of everyday mundane activities that individuals do that we will never know about. They are the unsung heroes of society. In the lyrics of a song titled "Hero," it could not be stated any better.
"...Cause you know heroes come in every shape and size, making special sacrifices for others in their lives, no one gives them medals, the world doesn't know their names, but in someone's eyes they're heroes just the same." Paul Overstreet. As I am writing this article, the world is going through a pandemic, COVID-19. I see first hand individuals unselfishly serving others. From the first responders, doctors, and nurses to individuals delivering food, drive through window fast food clerks to shelve stockers and cashiers at gas stations and super markets. These are the people referred to in the aforementioned lyrics. And, there are many others serving us in every aspect of life that are taken for granted.
This is the type of service that opens up the road to your success. Success comes in many ways. But, service is a way of being. A way to bring you closer to your essence. A way to activate the law of being. If you meet that calling, its a feeling like no other.
"Success is the sum of small efforts,
repeated day in and day out,
with never a thought of frustration,
with never a moment of doubt.
Whatever your cherished ambition,
begin now to make it come true,
through efforts, repeated, untiring,
plus faith in the thing that you do."
Florence Taylor
Service is also an important ingredient in manifesting your desires in life. By putting out an idea or product that will better serve the people, it will benefit you in whatever it is you want to manifest. Individuals will pay for a service or product that will benefit them. If I publish a book, for example that benefit's the reader, the reader will pay me for it. If it does not benefit the reader, they either, are not going to purchase it after reading the introduction or, purchase it and tell others not to if they felt it was not worth it. However, by me publishing a book on something that is helpful to the reader is a service I am doing and the act of the consumer purchasing my book and telling others to do the same is, them rewarding me for my service. Obviously, the better the book, the grander the service. The bigger the reward.
Therefore, whether it is spiritual or material success you are looking for, you have to look within yourself. Whatever it is that will nourish your internal seed of success that we are all endowed with by our creator, will reflect in your external success. Just like in a acorn rests the potential of a beautiful, strong oak tree, so does it in our internal seed of success. In both cases it just needs to be planted and nourished. I leave you with the following poem.
"As we go about our days, it is important to understand that we are solely accountable for the life that we are creating, cultivating and harvesting. Those that mindfully plant the love seeds can help those that are watering seeds of suffering. We are all gardeners and we are all here to grow love! Let's make the gardens of our minds, hearts and souls be filled with beauty."
