WATER
Water is the most powerful and necessary element for existence. It is defined as a colorless, transparent, odorless, liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms. All living things, from tiny cyanobacteria to a giant blue whale, need water to survive. Without water, life as we know it would not exist. And, life exist wherever there is water. All organisms like animals and plants, use water. "Water Ology." In addition, about 71 percent of the earth's surface is water covered and, the oceans hold about 95.5 percent of all the earth's water. "USGS Science for a changing world." Moreover, water is stronger than rock. Not in density but in fluidity. By this I mean that a constant dripping of water on a rock will eventually cause the rock to wear down and fall apart. From a physical perspective, water is very powerful.
Spiritually, water is used as part of nature to connect you to your source. And why wouldn't it? Up to 60 percent of the human body is water, with specific organs having a higher percentage of water. "HH Mitchel journal of biological chemistry." Many religions use water signifying divine life as well as a sign of purity and cleansing from a spiritual perspective. It also, has a therapeutic value. It relaxes the body. Simply soaking in warm water encourages relaxation. If you ever had the experience of entering a steam room, it is totally relaxing. And, the warm water rolling off my body gives me a feeling that my body is releasing toxins. In fact, some of my intense meditation has occurred while in a steam room. For me, it truly is a mesmerizing and rejuvenating experience.
For our family vacations we seem to gravitate towards areas that are surrounded by water. I can declare that just sitting on a pier or beach and looking out onto the ocean is truly a spiritual experience for me. I enjoy meditating surrounded by water. I can feel the energy and power of the water entering my body. When I am in this state, I envision myself standing on the edge of the beach on the sand where the ocean water starts to break onto the sand. I am stretching my arms out gently falling into the water face down. I then start to painlessly feel my body filling with water, stretching out like a giant and becoming part of the ocean. But, instead of drowning and dying, I am invigorated with life and the power of the ocean is within me. For me it is when I truly connect to my source and barriers like doubt, worries or fear disappear. No physical or mental distress. Just pure love. A total feeling of connection to the universe and God. At this stage, it is like I have become something other than human. There is absolutely nothing that I can not accomplish or resolve at this stage. Eventually, I understand that I have to come back to the physical plane. And, obviously I do or I would not be here at this time writing this article. However, I totally come back a new and energized person. So there you have it, my experience with the power of water in conjunction with mediation. I leave you with the following quote.
"For whatever you lose like a you or a me.
It's always ourself we find in the sea."
