SERENDIPITY

One of my favorite places in New York City is a restaurant named Serendipity.  It is located in a plush area of the city on 60th street between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.  For those unfamiliar with that area, it is around the corner from Bloomingdales,  high end boutiques and beautiful, breath taking brownstones.  It is considered a New York City landmark.  It specializes in frozen hot chocolate, ice cream and over sized hamburgers.  They have been in business since 1954.  The wait time to be seated is extreme.  Sometimes it takes two or more hours to be seated.  Reservations are not accepted.  You literally  have to show up and put you name on a waiting list.  From the outside it looks like an old unassuming knickknack, over priced shop.   As a kid, I loved it.  One of my fondest memories was sitting next to John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.  It was frequently visited by celebrities.  Oh, how perceptions change in adulthood.  If you were to place that business in a regular neighborhood, it would have been out of business a long time ago.  Why would anyone in the right frame of mind want to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a hamburger, ice cream and frozen hot chocolate?
 Its success is a perfect example of the law of attraction.  Serendipity has attracted celebrities and commoners for over sixty years.  There is this law in nature that you attract directly or indirectly what you think.  When you visit Serendipity there is an expectation that it is a very special place.  There is this aura of success.  Whether it is a customer or an employee, the energy is similar.  You see, this law of nature brings to you not only what you think about but I believe it also brings you, who you are.  If you see yourself as a person that does not belong there, you will not be attracted to that establishment.  In fact, you will probably have a miserable time and complain about the prices and waiting time.  On the other hand, if you see yourself  as belonging there, you will enjoy your experience.  And, not only will you enjoy it but, you will probably return.
 Life is no different.  Whatever you think about you will activate the source within, the god in you, to materialize your wishes.  The problem is that this law of nature can not distinguish between good or bad.  It will eventually bring to you what you think about.  Now, I don't want you to think that whatever your heart desires will just show up at your doorsteps one day.  It doesn't work that way.  Think about it, if you just wish something but your are not willing to do your part to get it, then maybe you really don't want it.  Maybe it's just a wondering, unfocused, low energy thought in your mind that you think you want but, you really don't.  So if you think you are successful you will attract people and things to lead you on the path to success.  If you think about evil thoughts against a neighbor, you will attract in kind negativity to yourself.  Remember the old adage, "be careful what you wish for."  The irony about the law of attraction is that it works whether you believe it or not.  For the majority that don't believe it or understand it, it works just as well.  Let me explain.  If you are one of the unfortunate ones that believe that you are given a lot prior to birth, in other words that you are supposed to just work, pay taxes, support a family and die, that is exactly what you will get out of life.  If you are in the minority that believes that life is supposed to be an unlimited creative adventure, and that you get out of life anything that you want, that is what you will get.  The individuals that created big things for the betterment of society, are the ones that had enormous ideas.  There will always be let downs but, they never stayed down when things didn't workout as planned.  Life for the enlightened soul, is similar to a seed.  When you get buried you grow!   I leave you with the following poem on point;
 "The man who thinks he can"
  "If you think you are beaten, you are.  If you think you dare not, you don't.  If you'd like to win, but you think you can't, it's almost a cinch you won't.  If you think you'll lose, you are lost.  For out in the world we find success begins with a fellow's will.  It's all in the state of mind.  If you think you're outcasted, you are.  You've got to think high to rise.  You've got to be sure of  yourself before you can ever win a prize.  Life's battles don't always go to the stronger or the fastest man.  But, soon or late the man who wins is the man who thinks he can.
