OCKHAM'S RAZOR

Ockham's razor or Occam's razor, is a principle from philosophy.  Suppose there exist two explanations for an occurrence.  In this case the one that requires the smallest number of assumptions is usually correct.  Another way of saying it is that the more assumptions you have to make, the more unlikely an explanation.  This idea is attributed to English Franciscan friar William of Ockham, a scholastic philosopher and theologian who used a preference for simplicity to defend the idea of divine miracles.  The one possibility with the least assumptions is not always the correct answer.  It merely suggest that, among all possible answers to a question, one's best bet is generally the one that requires the fewest assumptions.  As I attempt to reason our current situation with the pandemic that is currently in full force around the world, I think it would be a great way to put Ockham's razor to use.  It has been established by  the United Stated Government that the virus, referred to as COVID-19, originated in Wujan, China.  There are two possibilities on how this virus originated.  One possibility is that it escaped from a wet market in Wuhan, China.  Another possibility is that it escaped from a virology lab in Wujan, China.  With the first possibility there has to be other assumptions that need to be made.  That, it started from an animal source.  That the animal was infected.  That the infected animal had to be alive at the wet market, or else the virus would have died  with the animal.  That the animal had to be slaughtered at the wet market.  That the animal then infected a worker and, that worker infected others.  Or, that the infected, slaughtered animal infected the consumer and the consumer spread the virus.  The second possibility is the virus accidentally escaped into the general population when a lab worker in a virology lab in Wujan got infected and then infected the general population.
If we apply Ockham's razor, the second possibility with the least assumptions is the correct one.  I started wondering why not use Ockham's razor to answer occurrences in the world of the unknown instead of  relying on religion as so many people do for answers.  Many who know me know that I am not a religious person although, I am a spiritual person.  Moreover, I respect people's faith.  I am not attempting to convert anyone regarding any of my belief's.  My calling in life is to open up people's mind through my writings.  I believe  that religion started with a noble intentions but, through the years it has been watered down to serve the interest of a limited few.  Similar to politics.  Initially government was established at least here in the United States by the people, for the people.  All you need to do is read the preamble to the United States Constitution  But, through out the years it has been watered down to serve just a few.
In the spiritual realm, we all know we came from somewhere, and, when we have fulfilled our purpose, we are going somewhere.  Somethings are unanswerable because quite frankly there are no answers.  That is because we do not know.  Whoever tells you they know where you are going after you fulfill you time on the planet is not telling you the truth.  it is all based on faith.  In my opinion, that is the danger with politics and religion.  It seems that we rely on people with power to give us answers to fill our void.  That is the danger with these large institutions.  As I see it, this is a huge self inflicted problem.  We can change the system but it takes work.  Because we have relied so much on technology for quick results we have created a complacent society.  Because of this laisse fair attitude, we have seeded our power and potential to a few very powerful institutions.  Although, I see great changes in the horizon.  That is because I rather see the world through a positive prism.  I see the next phase of human evolution, where individuals will become enlightened.  A time where individuals collectively understand that they are in total control of their lives.  A world where reliance on institutions will be something of the past.  Where individuals will understand that they are all powerful and that everything they want or need is within.  So, in applying Ockham's razor to each and everyone of us, are we  spiritual beings created in god's image or are we complicated species with countless possibilities of who we are and why are we here?  The answer seems clear.  I leave you with the following quote on point.

couldn't understand the science that made
  her all that she was."
