PLACEBO
A placebo is a harmless pill, medicine, or procedure prescribed more for the psychological benefit to the patient than for any physiological effect. Most medical doctors, if not all have a disbelief on the potential of a positive effect of a placebo. And, why would you think they would feel otherwise? After all they are scientists. They want hard core science with data to prove or dis-prove a theory. That is how they were trained. I think otherwise. I believe that there is a strong movement towards the power and benefits of mental healing that medical doctors and big pharma would rather you not know. This will have a huge impact on the medical and pharmaceutical industries where it truly matters to them in the pocketbook. Take medical doctors, according to, Terry Nyykiel, in an article dated December 17, 2019, the average medical student graduated with $196,520 in student loans in 2018. That is just medical school student loans. That figure did not account for undergraduate loans or living expenses for the student. So, we can see why these young doctors, would not want to consider other non-traditional forms of treating a patient.
I do not want to seem that I am picking on medical doctors because this is an attitude common throughout other professions. Look at my profession as an attorney. Attorneys also have large debt in student loans upon graduation. They too may get offended if clients are empowered with other options to settle their legal problems instead of using a licensed attorneys who can be very expensive. The same is true for most professions. Professionals arrogantly, especially in the area of medicine, believe that the study of metaphysical, or beyond the physical, is junk science. They do not really care about the possibility that your mind is very powerful and the most important component in the healing process. I remember shortly after I got enlightened taking a trip and suffering a serious migraine headache in my hotel room. The type of headache where you lose your sense of smell, taste and your peripheral vision. Any form of light would aggravate the symptoms and contribute to my nausea. I remember laying face down on my bed and putting a pillow over my head. I started meditating and concentrated in the power to heal myself of this migraine headache. About ten minutes into this process, I envisioned a syringe inserted into my head and felt the migraine being sucked out of my brain. I know it sounds surreal but, in that state, I can hear the squeaky sound of a syringe sucking the migraine out. It was an ironic description, because in my past, I experienced in my youth as an athlete, doctors inserted a large needle into the joint of my knee to drain fluids that had accumulated from an injury.
I am not advocating to disregard medical advise or treatment as is customary in our Western culture. You would be a fool to do so. However, you should never dismiss the power and importance of your mind in the healing process. If you think about it, as long as you follow traditional medicine and add the power of the mind to the equation, what do you have to lose? You certainly are not going to lose your mind! No pun intended. And in fact, you may accelerate your wellness. In a related topic, I believe in the healing power of crystals. I wear a crystal around my neck. Does it really matter what others think about their healing powers? The only opinion that matters, is what I think. And, if I think it is helpful, then it is helpful. We all know of stories of individuals doing super human things in times of great stress. It is all related to the infinite power of the mind where everything is possible. Do not sell yourself short. Many individuals treat their cars better than they treat their own physical and mental health. Use all possibilities available to live an amazing, loving, abundant, healthy physical and mental life, to include the power of your mind. I leave you with a poem on point;
"Mind is the exclusive controller
of the body. When the mind is clear,
the route is near.
When the mind is broken,
your life is shaken.
Strong mind is the base
for strong body.
Courage and boldness enriches the
mind. When your mind is good,
you have good food.
When your mind is dirty,
you become filthy.
Physical exercise and walking strengthen
the body.
Meditation and Pranayama strengthen
the mind."
