YOU

I recently spoke at a school regarding the power that we all have individually to live a full and abundant life. The audience was 8th graders.  It appeared to me that they were very attentive.  The focus of my speech was the individual self.  The power to manifest the life of your dreams.  A life, that they are the only ones who can determine and define exactly what that life is.  This life is not determined by their parents, teachers, friends, grandparents, etc.   They are the only ones that have the power to define the direction of their lives.  I am not suggesting to a group of 13 year olds to defy their parents.  True parents love their children unconditionally and want not only what's best for  them but, for their children to do better than them.  I go back to my relationship with my father who was a very kind and loving man.  He had tremendous work ethics and I know I learned that from him.  He came over as an immigrant with absolutely nothing and supported my mother and six children on a waiter's wage.  He worked several jobs just to keep his family afloat.  Unfortunately it was never enough.  I am not blaming him for the standard of life that he provided because that is all he thought he could do.  I would not be here today if it wasn't for my parents .  I am very grateful to have had them and I would not have wanted any other parents.  However, my father was missing the knowledge of the ages of the power that he possessed  to live an abundant life. I'm not letting my mother off the hook because she too was unaware of this knowledge but she was a home maker.  In addition, I am not singling out my parents because I truly believe most individuals are unaware of this power.  It all starts with the law of attraction and how we think.
The law of attraction states that whatever we think about and believe, we will attract.  It can be positive thoughts or negative thoughts, if we think about them and believe in them, we will manifest them.  In fact, whether you understand the law of attraction or are unaware of the law of attraction, it exist.  If you think about negative thoughts you will attract negative results.  If you think about positive thoughts you will attract positive results.  It all starts with a thought.  Everything you see around you started with someone having a thought in their mind about it.  Whether it's the chair you're sitting on, the bed you sleep on or the I-phone you possess.  It all started with someone thinking about the "thing," and putting all their energy and effort into manifesting it.  It is all on "you."  You and you alone have that power as it relates to manifestations in your life.  There are so many individuals that are just living with no purpose in life.  That is horrible on it's face but, also add in that most individuals are miserable in their chosen vocations.  Or I should say, their "unchosen." vocations.  This was my point about parents.    Just because your mother or father have chosen for themselves a certain profession or vocation, that doesn't mean that, it is the path you should take or want to take.  If your mother is a successful dentist and encourages you into dentistry, that may not be your bliss.  That may be your mom's calling but not yours.  Your passion may be to scoop ice cream in your ice cream shop in Miami beach wearing Birkenstocks,  shorts and tank tops.  At 13, Dave Thomas, the founder of Wendy's International wrote in his school year book that he wanted to flip burgers for the rest of his life.  I'm sure he was laughed at and it probably worried his parents.  But, just look at what he created.  He had a thought, a belief and a passion!
Moreover, there are two other elements that we must be aware of, as I see it, and deal with to reach our entitled life of abundance - victimization and fear.  It seems that in todays society that there is a push towards victimization.  Victimization is only an excuse for failure.  Many blame everything from politics, weather, race, gender, parents, teachers, money, religion, and everything in between for their failures in life.  You need to take a good look in the mirror and from this point on talk to yourself.  Accept that there are no more excuses.  It is all on you.  You own it! It all starts with you.  If you stubbed your toe, it's your fault.  If you are broke, it's your fault.  If you fall down the stairs on a wet staircase at a pool in a plush hotel in Miami and fracture your tail bone and wrist as I recently did, it's my fault.  If the client I was expecting to show up to pay a retainer fee does not show up it's my fault.  If the roof on my house leaks it's my fault.  If I am fat, it's my fault.  If I am not as healthy as I want to be it's my fault.  You get my point and, if you don't, it's your fault!!! Just being humorous.  So from this point on, accept responsibility for your life.  Understand that life will at times hit you hard but, that will make you smarter and wiser.  The other element as I see it is fear.
Fear can not only kill your dreams and aspirations, but it can have a serious negative impact on your health.  There are many studies that show a correlation between living in constant fear and ill health.  I believe the greatest illness we face in society today is fear.  The irony is that fear really does not exist.  It is a self created illusion.  You see we all have this internal "thing," to be creative but then fear creeps in and kills our dreams.  It took me many years to get to what I am about to say but, I can sincerely say to you that I fear nothing.  I used to fear death but not any longer.  You see, death is the one thing that we will all experience.  It is the ultimate equalizer.  Rich or poor, black or white, male or female, we will all experience it.  So once you no longer fear it, your entire perspective changes.  It is a liberating experience.  Don't get me wrong, we all want to live long, healthy lives.  So stop thinking about it.  You have no control over it so let it go and enjoy living your life.  Live your life the way you wish to live. Someone's opinion of you does not have to be your reality.  I go even further by saying that someone's opinion of you is none of your business.  I read where the odds of you being born is one in four hundred trillion.  So ask yourself a simple question.  Why am I here? You have already won.  You have beaten the odds.   You are special and you have something to offer.  What are you waiting for?  I leave you with a quote on point by the Wizard of Oz.  "You've always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself."
