SUPERMARKET

I have always enjoyed the experience of food shopping.  My wife on the other hand despises it.   I enjoy being around crowds.  I enjoy the energy but in addition, I find it entertaining with a sprinkle of education.  I find a supermarket experience similar to life.   Let me try to explain before you assume I have received too many blows to my head from my football playing days.  Walk into any supermarket and you will find thousands of items for the consumer. In fact there are so many choices that it may seem as if there is a never ending inventory of merchandise.  As you walk through this adventure called life, you will find an infinite amount of  things to do or choices to make. In a supermarket, some choices are beneficial or in some cases needed, for whatever you are planning.  In life, you will have an infinite number of choices to make on a daily basis.  Some are important, some are not.  The unimportant ones will be ignored like a leaf falling off a tree in the cool fall breeze.  In a supermarket, some items are marked down because they may be getting a new shipment, it's not selling well or they are soon to expire.  After all consumer goods do have an expiration date.  But, whatever the reason may be, a marked down item gives you a sense that it's not as good as a regular priced item.  Whether this is true or not, that is the feeling I get regarding items that are marked down.  There is a sense of cheap energy associated with it.  In life, some individuals live a a very casual life and so they become casualties of life.  You see, they subconsciously live a marked down life because they worry about taking chances.  In other words, they live a limited life.  They fear letting it all out.  They worry too much about failing instead of the ultimate prize if they were to succeed.  They seem to major in the minor things in life.  For the baseball aficionados, Reggie Jackson, a hall of fame baseball player, holds the record for the most strike outs by a professional baseball player.  Notwithstanding, he was one of the best sluggers in baseball history.  He was certainly not worried about swinging and missing.  As aforementioned,  we all have an expiration date.  We all have a prime time in this theatre of life.  So why not go for it?  If you really break it down, what can happen if you swing and miss?  I prefer to swing and miss and depart this life with an empty tank than not swing and depart with a full tank.
One of the most important aspects of my supermarket experience is that if you walk into a supermarket with no true objective of what you want, you will most often then not end up in the wrong isle.  Or purchasing something that you did not intend to buy.  As in life, if you walk around without a defined purpose, you may end up with a life that you really did not want.  Life will do what life does.  So why not choose the life you want to live.  The way I see it, most individuals walk around as wonderers and allowing life to choose for them.  The individuals that get out of life what they want, is not because they are better than you, it is because they have a purpose and focus on that purpose until they accomplish it or they are ready to move on.  You have to be hungry and stay hungry, no pun intended, towards your goals.  If the hunger or drive is missing in whatever it is you want to accomplish, you will just be a dreamer without any real plan.  You have to bring a sense of enthusiasm to your dreams and aspirations.  I encourage every reader to step into the supermarket of life with a purpose.  Go right to the isle of your dreams with a hunger and enthusiasm that is obvious and go for it!! There is nothing stopping you.  I leave you with a quote on point by Winston Churchill.  "If you're going through hell, keep going." And I will add with enthusiasm!
