PRINTS
I was in court today for a pre-trial on behalf of a client. The standard court practice today is much different than it was pre-covid. In the past, courts, at least where I practice, were more akin to the scene in the movie Jingle All the Way, where workaholic Howard Langston played by Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to make things up to his son. He promises to get his son the hottest toy of the season which was a turbo man doll, even though, it is Christmas eve and the toy is practically sold out. Howard then has to drive all around town to find this doll, and he has to compete with everyone else including a mailman named Myron Larabee, played by, Sinbad, who is in quest to find the same treasured doll. In a memorable scene, it was advertised that a local K-mart store had the highly sought doll so, there were hundreds of people waiting for the store to open at 9:00 am. When the doors opened it was a mad dash to the aisle to grab the last turbo man doll. It was a human stampede!! This is putting it mildly. Enough with my movie synopsis. So back to the present, the local court where I practice was similar to the aforementioned movie scene where at 9:00 am the bailiff unlocks the front door and on an average day there would be 80-100 making a dash to get in the court to address their grievances. Some cases are criminal cases and some are civil cases. The irony is that there really is nothing civil about civil cases. In fact, here is a good rule of thumb; in criminal cases you have bad people, behaving like angels because they want the judge to be easy on them at sentencing. I use the description 'bad," to make a point, because I truly believe that in life everyone is good but, sometimes individuals make bad choices. In civil cases you have good people misbehaving because a term of imprisonment is not applicable. I was waiting for my client to get fingerprinted, as he was being charged with a printable offense and I started to think about "prints".
From a spiritual perspective, what kind of print do you want to leave on this planet when your time is up? Our prints are part of our legacy. In a criminal setting individuals are printed and put into a data base because that is how law enforcement and courts can obtain valuable information about what type of person they are dealing with. In hospitals, when a child is born, the nurse take a palm or foot print for the parents. I'm not so sure the usefulness of that activity but, I guess it's a cuteness factor. Requirements for certain employment may require prints for background checks. Insurance and bonding companies may require prints prior to issuing policies. From a spiritual perspective, we will eventually all leave our marking or prints on earth, after we depart the physical plane. It is unavoidable. The question is, what type of print are you going to leave? Do we want to leave a weak, insignificant easy to wash away print? As when you walk on the beach close to where the ocean breaks against the sand and, your foot prints get washed away almost as soon as you plant them or do you want to leave a solid print where you are remembered for making a difference? You see most individuals, I believe don't see the picture of their whole life. I believe this is so because they weren't raised to believe in their potential. Most individuals are raised to believe that what you see about yourself is it. There is no understanding of the true self which is all powerful spiritually. Our soul is much more important than our physical bodies but it is the least understood. Our souls are who we truly are but if you ask individuals about their souls, I would bet, that they either think you are nuts or they would not be able to describe it. Hopefully, when you are done reading this article, it will give you a different perspective on life. You are a special person. Allow your soul to guide you to do amazing things in your life. We all have this god given ability. Use it and make your print! I leave you with a quote on point.
"That is your legacy on this earth when you leave this earth: How many hearts you touched."
