GAME PLAN

One of my favorite movies is a comedy called the Game Plan.  Just to be clear, not because it is an artistic master peace or a classic but, because it emphasizes qualities in human behavior that I find appealing.  It features a guy who is big and strong but deep down inside he is a pussy cat.  It emphasizes a daddy-daughter relationship.  It is a positive, loving movie.   It stars Joe Kingman, played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, a star, bachelor,  professional football player that seems to have it all.  He is wealthy and carefree and his team is on the way to capturing a championship.  He is also the most important player on the team being the quarterback. Suddenly he is tackled, no pun intended, by some surprising and unexpecting news.  He finds out he has an 8 year old daughter from a previous relationship.  Once the shock  wears off, he tries but fails miserably at parenting.  It is something that he absolutely has no clue about.  Things from transporting his daughter in a super fast sports car with no back seats to leaving his daughter at 3:00am at a grand opening of his night club.  His newly found daughter is somewhat conniving because she eventually gets him and, the entire football team wrapped around her finger after a near-death experience.  That is the time that he finds out that his daughter's mom is deceased.  He then wants his daughter to live with him permanently but, the girl's aunt who has been raising her disagrees.  The aunt then takes his daughter home and leaves him playing the championship game with a heavy heart.  Joe then gets injured and his daughter shows up to get him back in the game for the second half and lead his team to a championship victory.  So, I spent the entire first paragraph describing a movie but, I started thinking about the title, game plan and how useful a game plan or life plan would be.
If you think about it, there are all kinds of plans floating around.  At the inception of a business, there is a business plan.  In any professional sport, there is a game plan.  You see who your opponent is and execute a game plan according to their strength and weaknesses, to give your team a better chance of winning.  If a coach did not formulate a game plan, chances are he will not last.  Before a developer builds,  they have to have a plan.  Before surgeons operate, they have to have a plan.  Before you decide where to eat or what to have for dinner, you have to have a plan.  Heck, before you get into your car to drive somewhere, you have to have a plan.  I can go on but I'm sure you  get the point.  The only plan that I will bet you,  most individuals ignore or don't think about is a life plan.  I have many years of formal education.  I can unequivocally inform you that I was never told or informed by any teachers about a life plan.  Or maybe I just fell asleep when they explained it! Humor!! So it begs the question, why is that not discussed?  The answer to me is pretty clear.  The way I see it, most individuals concentrate on the things that are physical in nature.  In other words, things that they can relate to with their senses.  The things that if they do, they can expect certain or immediate results.  You see, in order to have a life plan, you have to expand on what you have been taught and go into an area where it makes the average person uncomfortable.  Most individuals fail to have a life plan because they live there lives according to customs and traditions. In other words, they just go along with life.  A life plan is irrelevant because they may feel that they have no control over their lives.  They fail to see that the only thing in life that they have control over is how they want to live.  Through the power that we are all given, we can absolutely change our lives.  But, we are not taught about this immense power by anyone up to and including our parents.  And please listen.  I don't want you to be upset with your parents because, they too were not taught about it.  I can say this with certainty because if they were taught about this incredible power, they would have passed on this knowledge to you.  I believe that the next phase of human evolution will be an expansion of  our minds to understand this amazing power that we all possess but, the majority have not fully used.  In closing, it's never too late to create and execute your personal game/life plan.  I leave you with a quote on point.
"The mind is a powerful force, it can enslave us or empower us.  It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy.  Learn to use the power wisely."
