CANDLE
I have been called a spiritual blogger. I guess I can see why I've been called as such because of my writings. I would call myself more appropriately, a lover of life, or perhaps a blogger of life. I have always looked at life differently than most individuals. For example, while most individuals may just pass a stranger on the street, with or without acknowledging them, I tend to feel their energy. I usually smile or may say hello but in addition, I can truly sense their motives and feelings without really interacting with them. It is an intuition that the majority of the time I am on point with. I'm not saying this to impress the reader with any special powers. But more to impress upon you who I am. In addition, I am also not trying to sell you anything or ask you to join any group. In fact, my writings are free for all that wish to read them or use them in any way. Moreover, I have been this way, as it relate to my enhanced spirituality, since I was a little kid. I never knew what it was. In fact, I always thought that it is just how everyone was. However, as I got older and acquired life experience, this ability, for a lack of better word, was obvious. You see, when I look at a perfect stranger, I do not necessarily look at the physical attributes but, the spiritual energy component part of the person. In other words, I seem to connect to the energy of the person as opposed to the physical component. For me, there are many triggers that move me into a place of pure energy. And, it's not like it's automatic. A scent or a thing can move me at a certain time but, just because it moved me in the past, it doesn't necessarily mean it will move me again in the future which brings me to the title of my article, candle.
Candles, more often then not, seem to set the stage for me, in a spiritual sense. Candles enhance whatever it is that I am doing. I can be preparing to meditate or enjoying the music that may playing at the moment. Why wouldn't candles have this influence? It makes sense that they would, doesn't it? Candles have been used since the beginning of time. For many cultures, the flame on the candle has been used to enhance a person's intention. Candles have been used for lighting. Candles have been used in religions. Candles are used for birthdays. Candles are used in memory of individuals that have passed. Candles have been used at weddings. In fact, candles are such an integral part of humanity that there is a worldwide candle lighting day every year on the second Sunday of December. In my house, we have candles in every room that are lit often. Spiritually, candles move me and remind me to live in the present. A candle's burning wick, reminds me how precious life is. The bright burning wick of a candle is similar, in a spiritual way, to the potential that we all have in our lives. Unfortunately, individuals are so busy with life that a simple act of lighting a candle is uneventful. I am not saying that if and when you light a candle you should drop to your knees in tears of awe. But, maybe just take a few seconds the next time you light a candle to enjoy the experience. I encourage the reader to light a candle after reading this article. But, don't just go through the motions. Truly enjoy the act of lighting the candle. Do it with your family and children if you need to. And, if you live alone, you can still enjoy the experience. It would not surprise me if it felt like it was your first time. This would be a great time to do this since the holiday season is approaching. I leave you with a quote from William Shakespeare, "How far that little candle throws its beams! So shines a good deed in a weary world."
Just a thought.
