ERECTION
For those sexually minded individuals, this article is not about that type of erection. It is about erecting something in your life. Erection is the act of erecting a structure or object in your life. In life there are two types of individuals; the ones that make things happen and the ones that enjoy the things that the individuals that make thing happen create. The individuals that make things happen are the ones that have whatever they want. They are the ones that regardless of what you throw at them they keep going. They keep digging and digging until they find what they want. These individuals are determined to succeed. The way to success always opens for these individuals. In fact, they welcome bumps on the road. They understand that the bumps are signs that they are on the right track because it can only make them stronger. The way always opens for the determined. Sometimes you have to convince yourself that you "got it." As Shakespeare said, " Assume a virtue, if you have it not." Sometimes you have to walk the part, dress the part, talk the part, act the part before you can get the part. I'm honestly telling you that it truly works. Here is a personal example. Although I am an experienced attorney licensed to practice in New York and Ohio, I have been in many situations where after a court hearing, strangers have come up to me asking if I can represent them instead of their current attorney. I have always taken pride in looking like an attorney in court. Appearance is crucial. Although I am confident in my abilities, you still have to look the part. Their attorneys can be excellent at their craft as well but, what separated me from them is that I looked the part better than they did. Similar to what Shakespeare was referring to. It really all boils down to a determination in your mind that you are going to succeed. Without determination, you are done without even trying. Akin to a prenuptial agreement prior to marriage. If you are going into a relationship with the inclination that it may not work out, then why get married? You are setting yourself up for failure. As Orison Swett Marden puts it, "The majority of failures in life are simply the victims of their mental defeats. Their conviction that they can not succeed as others do, rob them of that vigor and determination which self confidence imparts, and they don't even half try to succeed."
Then their are the individuals who enjoy everything else that the individuals who make thing happen build. Don't be ashamed if you are in this category because about 90% of the rest of the population is right there with you. The way I look at it, if you are not working on your goals or dreams, you are certainly working on someone else's. And if you are going to be working anyway, why not work on your own success? Most individuals in this category just exist. There entire existence is dependent on someone else. They are in a state of servitude. Subject to the will of someone more powerful. The reality is that it doesn't have to be that way. We are all social, creative, spiritual beings. It is all, 100% about the way you think. I cannot be more clear. You are exactly what you think. If you want to know what you will be like in 6 months or a year from now, pay attention to what you are thinking today. Today will create your many tomorrows. If you are happy about your life then welcome to the 10% category. But, since you are reading this article, I assume you want to make some changes. If you change your thinking, you change your life. I leave you with a quote on point by William Arthur Ward.
"Success never resides in the world of weak wishes."
Just a thought.
