DECISIONS
As I go through life I have concluded that life really is about the decisions we make. If you want to change your life, it really is as simple as wanting to make the decision to do so. We all make decisions all the time, so this should not be a surprise. We make decisions regarding who we want to be in a relationship with, where we want to work, how much formal education after high school we want, if so, what college or university we want to attend, what priority we put on fitness and diet, whether we want children, pets, where and how we want to live, what kind of car we want to drive, how much drugs or alcohol we want to consume, whether we want to live an opulent life or not etc... Moreover, if you are really honest with yourself, you will conclude that it all comes back to "decisions." The way I see it, your life, is an inside job. You determine what life you want to live. I have 5 siblings, and I can tell you without any doubt in my mind that it all comes back to decisions. I am not saying I am better than they are. I believe we are all created equal in the image of the almighty or as I refer to as, the universal powers to be. The universal powers to be, did not create some to be destined to succeed and others to be doomed to fail. That would be contrary to the laws of nature. If you are to believe that we are all created in god's image, as most religions have you believe then, we have to all be created equal in his image. Period the end!
The formula to an opulent life, as I see it, is totally contrary to what we have all been led to believe. We have all been taught that we must all have extended education after high school to live a "better life." I remember hearing that from my father often. Don't get me wrong, I love school and learning. In fact, I went on to law school and am a practicing attorney in my other job. I say that as humor because I love to write about life and coaching individuals to living a positive rewarding life but, just, look around at how many under employed or unemployed formally educated people there are. Look around at how many people are trading their most precious commodity which is their time for a wage that just keeps them above water. Not to mention that they probably hate their boss and their job. Let that sink in for a moment. Trading precious time, of which you will never get back for work! Because life is fluid and constantly changing, outdated ideas will negatively affect your potential for positive creative change in your life. The good news is that you can decide right now to change your life for something better. It all goes back to you wanting to decide to change your life. Most individuals are held back in life because they are either comfortable with their life or they are addicted to everyday habits. Habits that are probably someone else's habits. Habits that they pick up from their parents, teacher or other significant persons in their lives. Why that's so difficult to change is that most of the important persons in their lives are people who genuinely love them. So it gets confusing and imbedded in their minds early on because they confuse these habits with love and caring. Then as we get older, fear sticks its ugly head into our lives and there you have it. Fear is like cement in your mind that unless you are aware of it, it will turn your thoughts into rigormortis and unescapable death. If you're not growing, you're dying. It is akin to sticking your mind in a nursing home just waiting for the inevitable. By the way, who came up with the idea of institutionalizing seniors in a nursing home? To me that is one of the most troubling aspects of our culture. Seniors should be encouraged to speed up not slow down. As I see it, that is a major contributor to brain atrophy. Just like any other muscle, if you don't use it, you lose it. However, this would be a discussion for a future article. I leave you with the following quote; "The straight line, a respectable optical illusion which ruins many a man." Victor Hugo
Just a thought.
