CHANCE

Looking at life or various aspects of life as a chance, seems a debilitating way of looking at things.  However, I believe that is the way most individuals look at life.  It seems that chance and risk are synonymous for some.  We have all heard someone say, "you need to take a chance," when confronted with a decision.  You can also substitute chance with the word risk.  By using "chance" in that way, it reflects the attitude that we cannot control our lives.  That there is something, or someone somewhere that has control over our lives.   To me, relinquishing control of your life, real or not, is a miserable way to live.  I am not trying to offend anyone if that is your approach on life.  My entire purpose in life is to give the reader a different perspective.  The possibility of alternative options contrary to the mainstream.   Ideas to live a full life in all aspects.  Whether it's financial, personal health, business, relationships, etc.  I am also not trying to sell you anything or indoctrinate you into any organization.  I'm just passing on my opinions with the hope that I can make a difference in someone's life.  If it helps use it, if it doesn't don't.
Back to the title of my article, I prefer to use chance in a different and positive context.  I use chance to put myself in a position to succeed.  In other words, giving myself a chance.  I don't believe things come to us by chance.  You have to put in the work.  It's the price you must pay in order to get what you want in life.  The way I see it, is that many individuals want what's easy as opposed to a challenge.  I remember where Jim Rohn wrote, " Don't ask for it to be easier, ask for you to get better."  He went on to say, and I'm paraphrasing, you can't control the wind, but you can certainly control your sails.  I believe, as long as you put in the work, you're putting yourself in a position to succeed.  If you can truly say to the person in the mirror that you have done your absolute best, then whether you accomplish what you want to or not, you have succeeded.  How do you know you have done your best?  You have done your best when you decide you have done your best.  Not when someone else decides for you.  Last night I watched the NBA's 7th game of the Eastern Conference finals between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics.  Let me give you a little back drop why I'm mentioning this.   It is a best of 7 tournament.  In other words, whoever win 4 games first will move on to the championship tournament.  Miami won the first 3 games of the tournament.  In the history of the NBA no team has comeback from an 0-3 deficit.  Teams who have lost the first 3 games are 0-150.  Its never been done.  It so happens Boston won the next 3 games to tie the series.  Could this be history in the making?  It remained to be seen.  After Miami's 3rd loss in a row, their coach was asked about the pressure after being up 3 games.  He stated, "We have a chance to play a game 7."  Nothing negative.  They overcame adversity and won.  They put themselves in a position to play a 7th game and win.   So, the NBA record stand at 0-151. The game of life is no different.  Since you're here, why not put yourself in a position to win?  I leave you with a quote on point by Chris Grosser.  "Opportunities don't happen, you create them."
