CARS

I was recently researching my next car and I started to think about how a car is a perfect metaphor to describe life.   For those fortunate enough to purchase a new car, life is akin to a car.  A new car has a shine and scent to it. It has a perfect body, no scratches and smooth shiny paint.  The elements have not had an affect on the exterior.  The exterior has a reflection like a mirror.  The interior has that new car scent. The seats are wrinkle free.  No scars or stains from occupant use.   The dash board, handles and knobs are sparkling.  No food or sneeze discharge stains.  The whole car just has a glow.  The engine, well, that's the brains of the car.  Depending on the make, model and budget, you can have the most powerful engine on the market or the most economical average engine.
The way I look at it, this adventure we call life is similar to a car.  As soon as the baby comes out of the womb, it is spotless.  It is perfect! There is a shine with a newborn.  The baby scent is like no other.  It is an intoxicating, warm scent.  As physician, Johannes Frasnelli, an anatomy professor of the University of Quebec stated, " So, of course, there must be mechanisms which allow for a very strong bond between parents, especially mothers, and the baby.  We think that the odor of babies is involved in one of these mechanisms."  He goes on to say that, "In fact, many people, mainly parents, will say that the baby odor is one of the most pleasant, best odors they have ever smelled."  I would not describe it as an odor.  I rather describe it as a scent because to me odor has an unpleasant connotation to it.   Moreover,  a newborn has perfect smooth skin.  Not one wrinkle unless, you are born old and grow young like in the movie Benjamin Buttons.  Humor!!  A newborn's body is perfect.  Everything is running just how nature intended it to be.  The mind, the engine of the body is perfect.  It has the potential to be as powerful and, quiet frankly,  the ability to be beyond the strongest computer or most powerful engine created.  If you don't believe me, just answer one question.  Who do you think created the most powerful engine ever created?  The answer is obvious to me.  The human mind!
The way I see it, although a car and metaphorically speaking humans are similar, there are two big exceptions.  Individuals have the ability through their inherit power of their mind to tap into their endowed infinite power.  A person can be 4'5'' as a full grown adult, weighing 80lbs and have unlimited power through their mind.  Stature has no correlation to mind power.  That aforementioned, small person can have the mind of a Johannes Kepler (1571-1630), who was the person who made  sense of astronomy.  He realized, following in the footsteps of Copernicus, that the sun is not the dead center of the universe and that the planets go round in ellipses.  Individuals, unlike cars, through the power of their thoughts can do, go or live however they choose.  You see, cars have to be driven or now a days, at least programed by individuals.  Individuals have the ability to live and program their lives as they please.  A car can not program itself.  At least not as of this writing.  There are cars that can drive themselves but they are still dependent on humans to program them.  Humans on the other hand through the power of their mind can easily change the course of their lives.  Buddha states, "We are what we think.  All that we are arises with our thoughts.  With our thoughts, we make the world."  Ralph Waldo Emerson stated, "We become what we think about all day long."  Moreover, individuals can map the direction they want to take in life.  That is part of our evolution.  This is a piece of our life adventure that no one can interfere with.  We have to set goals to be able to reach them.  If you get into a car with no idea where you want to go, you are just wasting your time.  You are just wondering around life lost.  On the other hand if you have a purpose, goal, or destination in mind, you will almost certainly reach it. So I encourage the reader to program your life GPS (goals), and I will see you at corner of Success and Happiness.
