BLISS
Many individuals are unhappy with their jobs. Consider for a moment that 53 percent of Americans are currently unhappy at work according to the conference board, a non-profit business research group. The fact that less than half of Americans are satisfied with their work is troubling. In addition, violence in the workforce accounted for 9 percent of all workforce fatalities in 2015 according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2016, the National Safety Council reported that 17 percent of workplace deaths were the result of violence. Needless to say there are many unhappy individuals in the work force. In 2019 there was 156.92 million individuals working in the United States. That is 83.17 million people that unhappy in the workforce. That is an alarming number by any measure.
I believe the problem lies in that many individuals are not spiritually connected. Regardless of what a person chooses to do whether it is in the arts, sciences, manufacturing, education, medicine, dentistry, lawyering etc..., the problem lies within, not with the type of work. A person has to feel connected to a purpose regarding their employment. If they feel that their work is for the benefit of society in general it would be satisfying. But, there has to be a purpose and spiritual connection to your source. This is key. We are spiritual beings. We are creators. If who you are as a spiritual being and creator is not fed then, there is a serious disconnect. This seems to be very common in the workforce. Where workers are treated like robots instead of who they really are. Until animation takes over the workforce, employers should do everything in their power to stimulate employees needs in a spiritual way. I do not think it is possible to lower the work place violence until we as spiritual beings understand that there is a deeper purpose than who we physically are. This is everyone's responsibility not just the employees. I believe that companies are so caught up in the financial aspects of their business that they are losing a lot more than employees. The way I see it, an investment in the needs of the spiritual aspects of a person will bring them a larger profit in the long run. Corporate America should focus on inspiring workers to become successful and to grow instead of looking at them as just a number filling a position.
Moreover, individuals have a personal responsibility to find their calling or their bliss. And, instead of worrying about what they are getting focus more on what they are becoming. If you really think about it, it's all connected. Companies, employees, it is all about people. Individuals have to feel that their spirituality and creative needs are being inspired. It is more than just a paycheck. We all need money to survive but, the money will come if the aforementioned needs are addressed. Ironically, many seem to think that you must find your purpose or bliss in life in order to be happy. I am not so sure that is the case. I believe you can find your purpose and happiness in whatever you choose to do as long as you feel, through your creativity and spirituality, that you are contributing to the common good of society. You can be flipping burgers but as long as you feel you are making a difference you have found your bliss or purpose in life. Happiness starts from the inside. You first need to be happy with yourself in order to be successful. Anyone who has young children understands that if your children are real hungry and you stop on your road trip at McDonald's for a burger, the servers are making a difference for the common good of society. That is why I always thank them profusely. Now, I am not saying that you need to retire as a McDonald's employee because we all evolve and our dreams and aspirations change as part of our creative needs but, that would be your choice. The mistake that many make is that they think that by looking for another job they will be happy because they are miserable in their current position. Remember you still have to take "you" to the next job. Therefore, start working on yourself. Look at yourself every morning in the mirror and see how special you are. Understand that what you see is not who you really are. The real you is your perfect soul that never changes. The soul that is your divinity. Your god within. I leave you with a quote on point; "Even if you are a small forest surviving off of moon alone, your light is extraordinary."
