RISK
Life is a risk. Living life is a risk. A risk free life is impossible. If you are looking for a risk free life, you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. And, the biggest risk of all is not taking one. The greater the risk the greater the results. I understand that some would rather take the road mostly traveled by others. By doing so you can predict the outcome with some degree of certainty. If you go the unpredictable way, it can be hurtful and discouraging if the outcome was not what you expected. The easiest way is always the safest way. It is an unchallenging way to live. Life usually rewards individuals, in direct relationship with the risks associated. I am not a gambler but on a few occasions, while on vacation, I have indulged at a casino at the black jack table. If you play at the five dollar table because it is less risky, the reward is just five dollars if you win. You may be having a great day and win twenty games in a row. Great success! But you have just won one hundred dollars. If you were to tell your friends you won twenty games in a row at the black jack table, they would assume, that your winnings covered your entire vacation and then some. If you were at the one hundred dollar table, your winnings would have been two thousand dollars. The end result in the above example is related to the amount of risk associated. I am not advocating gambling or taking reckless risks in life. But, there are risks in life that are worth taking because they contribute to your personal growth and other risks that even though the rewards may be high are not worth it. Taking a financial risk where the worse case scenario is losing money, where money can always be regained or bungy jumping from a skyscraper in New York City where you risk your life, are very different. Although, I tend to think bungy jumping enthusiasts may differ. It is all a matter of personal choice. But, you get my point. Most individuals are scared of failing. This is common sense. You want to succeed in life. You should not take on a challenge if in your mind, you think you are going to fail. That is why I never understood prenuptials. Think about it, getting married with the idea that you may fail. If you think that, you are setting the stage to fail. I remember listening to an interview with a heart surgeon in a New York City hospital. The interviewer asked the surgeon about the fifty percent failure rate in heart surgeries in his hospital where patients have died as a result. The surgeon responded that he understood the numbers but that in this particular hospital, they understood the risks associated with the very high risk patients they were accepting. He continued, that most of those patients were going to die anyway but that they would still accept them because they wanted to at least give them a chance. I guess looking at the numbers, one can conclude that fifty percent survival rate for very high risk patients is a success. No other hospitals would take that risk. They decided it was worth it and I bet their patient's did too.
Looking at successful individuals, you realize they have a common denominator. They are not afraid of failing. They are willing to accept the risk of failing. After all success is a bunch of failed attempts. If you never failed at anything, you have not done anything worthwhile. How is that for some food for thought? Understand that if the idea you are about to launch is your calling, chances are you will succeed. Even if it may require some tweaking or several attempts to get it right, keep going. Do not give up! Remember that age old adage by Edward Hickson, "If at first you don't succeed try try again." Also, remember that you are not alone in your challenges. We all have the force of the universe within us to guide us. Meditate and reconnect to your source and success is inevitable. It has to be because the god in each and everyone of us is pure love. Pure love will overcome any challenges or obstacles in your way. I leave you with a poem on point, which happens to be one of my favorite.
"To live is to risk dying. To hope is to risk despair. To try is to risk failure. But, risks must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk noting." Author unknown
Just a though.
