LIFE
As I pass through life, I continue to absorb and understand that life, although at times may seem like it is unfair, is just a compilation of laws and common sense. You see, life is not and was never meant to be fair. I believe that life is a continuum of experiences derived from the laws of nature and common sense. I don't believe we ever stop learning. The most important education we can receive does not come from formal school but from, the university of life. Simple as it may seem, I believe this to be true. Life gives each and every one of its 8.5 billion inhabitants not what they want but what they deserve. Life doesn't owe us anything. Life is doing what life does. Life brings us rain and snow on the poor and the rich. The sun shines on the well to do and on the not so fortunate. Death is experienced by everyone regardless of race, gender, social standing, etc. Life gives us the venue to be whatever we desire to be, no more or no less. The choice is yours, to do as you please. It may seem unfair at times, but that approach is nothing more than claiming you're a victim. Life doesn't demand anything from you. you can live under a bridge with no responsibilities, or you can be a successful and contributing member of society. The choice is completely yours. Life doesn't demand you be healthy, however, if you choose an unhealthy lifestyle, you have to suffer the consequences. Life doesn't demand you become financially independent but, if you choose to be lazy or just earn enough money to get by, you must suffer the consequences. Life doesn't demand you become learned and well-read but, if you choose to drop out of school and just read comic books, you must suffer the consequences. This is all common sense. I'm sure you have heard that some people are naturally blessed or lucky when they are doing well. However, I will bet you they have worked very hard to get where they are. We just get to see the finished product, not the time, consistent work and dedication it took to get to the finish line. My 15-year-old daughter's boyfriend is a dedicated soccer player. He was recruited into an elite soccer program. He too is 15 years old. I mention him because the sacrifices that he is making to ultimately reach his dream of playing professional soccer is extensive. He had to separate from his family to live with a host family in a foreign country. He left the comfort of his friends and classmates to pursue his dream. My point is that one day when he is having a successful professional soccer career, the normal observer may say he is lucky and blessed. However, they will never see all the sacrifices, time and dedication he invested into his career.
"I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it." -Thomas Jefferson
The more you put out in life the more you get. It doesn't get much easier than that. We all have this capability. It is embedded in nature. If you want better health, live a healthier life. If you want more muscles, lift more weights. If you want a bigger bank account, give something of value to others. I can go on but if you are reading this article, you get the picture. It seems that in today's political divisive environment, many are missing the true meaning of living a successful life. I understand that there are many ways to be successful. Success is not a one size fits all proposition. Success is whatever you decide it is. Jim Rohn, an author on the topic of personal development of which I am a fan, was once asked what the definition of success is and he stated, "success is keeping death at a respectable distance." This is my way of being humorous. But, if your definition of success is to live a healthy lifestyle then Mr. Rohn's definition is on point. You need to find your purpose in life. We all came here with a purpose. My purpose is to be happy. As I live, I find that serving others fulfills my underlying purpose of being happy. My desire is that the reader will find their purpose and live a happy life. I leave you with a quote. "Service is what life is all about. Great acts are made up of small deeds. Goodness is the only investment that never fails. As we serve others, we are working on oursevles. Every act, every word, every gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts as well." Author unknown
