ASK
One of my life quests is to serve others. What better way to serve than to pass on my life experiences, knowledge and research so that I can assist or coach the reader in achieving an abundant and successful life of their choosing. I am baffled by how simple it is to live an abundant life if only the individual will "up their ask." The problem is not that a life of abundance cannot be reached, but, that in general since individuals do not believe they can achieve, they set their goals very low. You see, the majority of people achieve their goals. They just set them much too low. If you don't believe me, just look at how many individuals are living check to check. I made myself a promise that I was never going to live hand to mouth. I believed in myself, and I set goals. I know my family and childhood friends thought I was crazy. Those same individuals are living hand to mouth scrapping to get by. I sincerely believe that living a life of abundance is an obligation of biblical proportions. For those who know me, they know I am not a religious person. In fact, religion never worked for me. I had serious questions early in my life that my parents could not answer. So, they did as Catholic parents do; they told me to go ask the priest. So, I did, and they too could not answer my questions. Needless to say, I moved on.
There are countless biblical passages that refer to abundance and wealth. The uninformed will tell you that money is the root of all evil. This is not an accurate biblical interpretation. What it says in 1 Timothy 6:10 is that ... the love of money is the root of all evil... To go further, in the King James version of the bible it states, ask and it shall be given you seek and ye shall find: knock and it shall be opened unto to you: for everyone that asketh receiveth, and he that seeketh. So there you have it. It is not contrary to the bible to want to live a life of abundance and wealth. I understand that abundance and wealth mean different things to different individuals, but I refer you to the aforementioned direct quote on money. In fact, most of the houses of worship, if not all of them, need money to operate their institutions. I direct you to the Vatican as case in point. The Pope adheres to an oath of indigency but lives in wealth in a palace with all his needs cared for. Moreover, we need to "up our ask." When you ask, you will get. Ask for the best of everything. Dream big! What is the harm? Be grateful but, don't settle. Think big. It was 2 bicycle mechanics that dreamed of transporting people in the air and the plane was created. It was a dropout college student who dreamed about a social platform in college and Facebook was created. It was two young guys who dreamed about a computer and Apple was created. I can go on and on with examples of big thinkers. You see, everything you will ever want is there, you just have to envision it in your mind and do it. Therefore, "up your ask." Believe in yourself and you will achieve it. I leave you with one of my favorite poems on point. "I bargained with life for a penny, and life would pay no more. However, I begged at evening when I counted my scanty store. Life is a just employer; he gives you what you ask. But, once you have set the wages, why, you must bear the task. I worked for a menial's hire, only to learn dismayed, that any wage I had asked of life, Life would have willingly paid." Jessie B. Rittenhouse
